Still doing work behind the scenes. Last week uploaded pages for
the Tybee and
St Simon Island
lighthouses. Also fixed a coding error on the alphabetical listing page.
I recently switched hosting the website from yahoo.com to godaddy.com. If you notice any broken links, please let me know.

Orient Point lighthouses, and added a few more pictures to
Fire Island
July 20, 2008
On July 3rd & 4th, 2008, we visited some of the lighthouses of Long
Island. The lights we saw included:
Fire Island;
Montauk
Point;
Orient
Point;
Long Beach Bar;
Horton Point;
Old Field Point;
Huntington
Harbor (Huntington Bay). We tried to visit the Coney Island Light, but
could not get in to the gated community to see it. We also failed at
seeing the Eaton's Neck light, as it is on an Active Duty USCG Station, and we
could not obtain permission to gain entry. (Maybe next time).

From the looks of this page, I haven't been doing a lot to the website.
But a lot has been going on "behind the scenes". To help support this
site, I sell lighthouse related items in the gift store and on eBay. I
also (try to) sell postcards - general, town view, scenic etc. In order to
do that, I have to scan the cards and upload them individually, and then write
the eBay listings and the gift store pages.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!!!
Revised the Roanoke River lighthouse page - it now has links for the Roanoke River Lights in Plymouth, NC (a
reproduction), and the Edenton, NC, )a dilapidated structure that is supposed to be
repaired). Also added a page for the Roanoke
Marshes Light reproduction in Manteo, NC.
May 27, 2007
Added a page for South Carolina.
The only light so far is Governor's
Lighthouse in Little River, SC.
Also added new photos of the Roanoke
River Lighthouse in Edenton, NC. On Wednesday, May 23, 2007, this light was
moved from private property, where it had sat falling apart, to Colonial Park in Edenton,
where it will be restored and eventually used to house a museum.
July 1, 2006
Added the Cape Lookout page.
Also added a couple of pictures to the Bodie Island Light page.

I know it does not look like I have done much work on this website, if you have been
looking at this page for updates. May 2003 sure was a long time ago. What have
I been doing since then? Believe it or not, it has been quite a while since I last
visited a lighthouse, so I have not had any pictures to add to the site.
A lot of what I have been working on has been behind the scenes.
To help me pay for the hosting of the site, I try to sell things on eBay. I have had
some success selling some of the same things I have listed in the Gift
store:
Lighthouse License Plates, Recipe Cards, and cutting boards. Mainly I have been
selling from the collection of Reproduction Lighthouse postcards I have. I also sell from
my collection of general interest postcards.
What do I have planned for this site? I have a large selection of lighthouse postcards that I want to incorporate into the site. They are quite interesting! The early postcards show the lighthouses as they were 50 or more years ago. It is amazing how differenly a lighthouse looks when there are buildings near by, that are no longer on the site. Or how differently the tower looks with trees all around. Another area that I am hoping to add is a section of Lighthouses on Stamps, as well as expand on the Anatomy of a lighthouse section.
So please keep coming back. I have a lot planned for this site. I hope you like what I have!
May 11, 2003
Today, I added the Roanoke
River Lighthouse to the North
Carolina page.
May 4, 2003
Added two news stories relating to Cape Hatteras opening up to visitor climbs - on the

Lighthouse page. Coming soon, picutres of the Roanoke River Lighthouse.
March 11, 2003
Changed the index back to my introduction page. It had been changed to the
letter I wrote regarding the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act. Thanks
to the Harbour Lights Collector's Society, for using Lighthouse Trivia from this
site in the latest issue of their publication Lighthouse Legacy Volume Ten, Number 1.
If you are not a member, check it out.

Uploaded the Cape Hatteras
Lighthouse page
January 10, 2003
Uploading the Bodie Island
Lighthouse page.
January 6, 2003
Happy New Year!!! I started off this year by adding to my site a letter I wrote
regarding the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000, and the efforts of
Congressman Walter B. Jones, Jr. (R-NC) to circumvent it by conveying the Currituck Beach
Lighthouse to the County of Currituck by means of quitclaim deed. Please read the
letter by clicking here, and sign the
petition to have the lighthouse conveyed to the Outer Banks Conservationists, the private,
nonprofit group that has cared for the lighthouse for the past two decades.
Also coming soon ... Bodie Island Lighthouse - We visited the Bodie Island Lighthouse the day after Christmas, and I hope to have the pictures up soon.
November 19, 2002
Started working on the North Carolina Page ~ Added the Bald Head Island and Oak Island lights.
November 12, 2002
Made some changes to the Guestbook. In addition to the questions I was asking, I
am now asking what your favorite lighthouse is on this site, and what is your all-time
favorite lighthouse. In the future, I will add a page with the results.
November 7, 2002
Once again, it has been a while since I've done any substantial work on this site.
And, once again, I've moved. This time to North Carolina. (For those of
you that don't know, North Carolina has quite a bit more lighthouses than West Virginia
does.) Last week-end, we went and saw our first North Carolina lighthouses.
Look for them to show up on this site shortly. Also, with the holidays fast
approaching, I've done some work on the Gift Store. Please stop
by and perhaps complete some of your Christmas shopping!
February 23, 2002
FINALLY!!! It's only taken me six years to get my pictures on-line from my trip
to Florida. Visit the Florida
page, and see the following lights: Alligator Reef, Cape Florida, Key West, and Sombrero Key. And
as always, Thank You! very much for visiting my site.
February 12, 2002

Corrected a coding error on the Table of Contents page: the link to Anatomy of a
Lighthouse now works.
August 24, 2001
It's been awhile since I updated this site - I moved to West Virginia, and it's taken
awhile to get things set up. Additionally, I took a few trips the last couple of months to
see and photograph some more lighthouses. For a preview of these coming attractions, see
the New York page
and the Pennsylvania
page. I also changed the format of the Contents Page - instead of listing each state here,
I changed it to list the lights by state, as well as alphabetically.
May 22, 2001
Added a For
$ale page to sell Lighthouse Items.
April 19, 2001
Uploaded the Twin Lights of Navesink, New Jersey page.
April 15, 2001
Uploaded the page for Barnegat Light in New Jersey. I'm trying something new with this
page - instead of having the pictures load at their regular size, I've added thumbnails to
the page. Please let me know if you like this better!!
Along with the California and Florida pages that I said I was working on, I will also be adding to the New Jersey Page the Twin Lights of Navesink, Sandy Hook, and Sea Girt.
March 12, 2001
I've been working on the historical information for the lights in New York.
Look for the California and Florida pages to be up and running soon.
February 27, 2001
Following up on a suggestion, I have been editing the pages to make it easier to read,
changing the text color from black to white.
February 24, 2001
Lately I have been having a problem on my Contents page - extra information was being
added to the URL's. Hopefully that problem has been corrected
February 3, 2001
Having a problem with my guestbook. If you "View my Guestbook" please use
your browsers "Back Button" to return to the previous page.
January 27, 2001
After several months of preparations, this site is finally available for public
viewing.
I am aware that there are error messages displayed and am working to correct this problem.
