TITLE: PRESQUE ISLE LIGHTHOUSE
CAPTION: PRESQUE ISLE LIGHTHOUSE is the second lighthouse at Presque Isle, Michigan. Built in 1870, it is 109 ft. from the base to the ventilator ball at the top. The exterior lighthouse tower has been restored with white glazed brick, givign it a dazzling elegance that adds to its charm. A Third Order Fresnel Lens produces a light visible 21 statute miles out in Lake Huron. The attached building has been restored and is now a Museum and Gift Shop. Open May to Oct. Pictured in the foreground, the lighthouse keeper's quarters was built about 1905 and presently houses the Park Manager.
