It was the Sniatecki family’s great pleasure to create
“Irondequoit Bay (ca. 1790).” For
them, driving along the beautiful Irondequoit Bay has always inspired thoughts of Senecas
and fur traders meeting as their boats were launched and portaged away over two centuries
ago. This lighthouse is a beacon from the
past, illuminating a formerly common scene in a well-known and treasured part of our
community.
